Markets seem to have moved on from the ME war…they are considering it yesterday’s issue. We kinda agree with them.

Yes, we still need to get a firm peace deal. However, the ceasefire seems to be holding…so far…and this improves the chances of both sides coming to some sort of agreement, even if it is temporary. If military action ramps up again, it is likely to be short-lived because neither party can afford to prolong these battles for too long. The economic, political and human stakes are too high for everyone involved…in spite of the online bravado.

Remember, here we are investors. We keep our politics out of our investing process. We try to see the facts and signals as they present themselves. Along those lines, even if the ME war is toned down, the macro impacts of these events will likely be longer lasting…in the US, in the ME region and globally. The forward looking economic landscape is what we are focused on as we invest today.

We started off 2026 invested in stocks and etfs like AAPL, ALAB, BE, GLD, GOOG, IBIT, MRVL and NVDA. Over the past three and a half months, we tweaked our portfolio to take advantage of our winners and to initiate a few new positions that we believe will be future beneficiaries of AI, cybersecurity and e-commerce. This week we added one such new stock to our SWAT portfolio.

We still have a 50%+ allocation to AI. There is a built-in cash buffer, a commodities hedge, a couple of international etfs and a reasonable allocation to crypto. We have also put some money to work in healthcare.

This diversified portfolio has kept us on the right side of 2026 market trouble. We planned for both right-tail opportunities and left-tail risks. The market’s move higher over the past eleven days is exactly the type of right-tail opportunity that we wanted to position for. The prior move down was the left-tail risk that we were ready for. Our portfolio’s barbell hedge in action.

This is the S.W.A.T. way.

Along the way, we’ve been tracking several secular, macro, fiscal, and monetary trends and catalysts. Based on these signals, we mapped out what we believe is likely to happen in each of the next 4 to 5 quarters, starting in Q4 2025. So far, we got most of it right and some of it wrong. And that’s okay. We do not profess to be fortune tellers. No one is right all the time. We strive to be like water and adjust to market conditions and macro developments as they come at us.

Bottomline, we said that this market is not to be trifled with…this is not the year to F.A.F.O. In Q2, our focus is to make the final turn as we pivot our SWAT portfolio for the rest of 2026.

Take a look at the SP500 chart below. As we mentioned, the index gained 11% over the past 11 days. It topped in February 2026, then started a major downtrend and has since recovered all those losses. The SP500 is now testing upside resistance at 7,000.

As we dig a little deeper, we should note that the MAs are healthily trending higher... shorter term MAs crossing above longer term MAs is bullish.

More stocks have regained their 50DMA, although we aren’t seeing many new 52-week highs. Momentum has somewhat picked up, although daily trading volume is tracking lower than average volumes. Additionally, we noticed that traders and institutions are still putting on more protective hedges.

So in essence, we are trending higher on fumes. Bears are confused yet confident about their thesis. Bulls are confused yet convinced that earnings reports are going to beat expectations. This is what makes a market! Two sides of the same transaction…each with differing views on what is right and what is wrong. Love it!

The Q1 earnings season has just kicked off. We will receive updated performance information for the companies that we are tracking. Most businesses are currently in their quiet period. They cannot comment on forward guidance until they publish their Q1 earnings report. This vacuum of company-led information tends to get filled by rumors, fintwit “alerts”, and geopolitical tweets. Wall Street also does their part to feed the frenzy by issuing bullish or bearish reports on stocks that they either want to sell high or buy low. We have seen this movie play out over and over again prior to every earnings season. As individual investors it is easy for us to get caught up in these crosswinds.

A few weeks ago, AI semiconductor stocks were hated…now they are not. Then quantum computing stocks were on a tear…but then hated for months and now everyone loves them again. SaaS was going to get disrupted by AI…everyone was selling their cloud names. Now SaaS is back with a bang. Hot…then cold…then hot again.

Here on the beach, we certainly track key business developments. However, we update our investing thesis and Beachman scores for stocks based on quarterly earnings reports…if the thesis is confirmed by the company’s current performance and forward prospects, then we stay the course. If and when the thesis is broken, we exit.

🚨New position alert🚨: Our neo-cloud stock pick

A neo-cloud is a specialized cloud provider built specifically to power AI and high performance computing (HPC) workloads. Unlike hyperscalers like AWS or Azure that offer a broad range of general purpose services, neoclouds focus almost exclusively on GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS). They are the first versions of NVDA’s AI factory concept…a paradigm shift that redefines data centers from general purpose storage warehouses into specialized “manufacturing” facilities for intelligence. Jensen Huang describes this as a model in which data is the raw material, GPUs are the machinery, and tokens (units of AI-generated content) are the finished products.

If one wants to invest in AI, one has to consider owning a neo-cloud stock. But there are so many of them and it is difficult to decide which one to buy.

Meanwhile, the economic strain grows in Asia forcing countries like Sri Lanka to mandate weekly public holidays….Vietnam and Thailand to implement strict fuel restrictions and driving rations based on license plate numbers…South Korea urging citizens to reduce power consumption and to work from home…Pakistan reducing commercial business hours…Thailand restricting usage of air-conditioning. Are we soon going to hear something similar from India, China? How about semiconductor production in Taiwan that depends on fuel, fresh water and helium?

In addition to high energy costs, these emerging countries are facing devaluation of their currencies and rising local interest rates. They are forced to sell their gold and currency reserves to prop up their economies. Turkey just sold 60 tonnes of gold. Japan is tapping their $1.4T foreign exchange reserves to prop up the Yen. The dominoes keep falling.

The global energy market is currently facing a 12M+ barrel per day (mbd) supply gap (btw…multiple estimates on this ranging from 5 to 24 mbd), and regardless of future developments, it is highly improbable that even half of the 20 mbd previously exported from the Gulf will return soon. France confirmed yesterday that about 30-40% of refining capacity in the ME has been destroyed. Let’s say ceasefire negotiations and agreements are conducted and concluded over the next 3-4 weeks…you just know that it is going to take that long due to our “art of the deal” style. Then comes the subsequent de-escalation (military scale back) and restarting of supply chains…which could take another 3-4 weeks. Rebuilding of destroyed infrastructure will take much longer and could be accelerated to end of 2026…optimistically. These supply chain squeezes impact oil, helium, fertilizers, food and much more.

In a few weeks from now, consumers will actively scale back consumption, purchasing, travel, driving etc. Asia is already there…the US will be quick to follow…especially as we love to drive during the Summer months. I recently paid $6.50 per gallon for gas in CA and am paying $3.50 per gallon in MN. Even if the US implements export restrictions, gas prices at our pumps are not likely to come down until there is permanent resolution to these ME events….so make that end-2026…right through and past the mid-term elections.

Many investors and traders today naively believe that a reversal…ala April 2025 Liberation Day taco…is coming soon. They have been buying the dip. As per BofA, retail buying over the past 4 weeks has been the highest since the late 1990s…wow!

Historically, retail has 23% of cash on hand…as of last week, they only have 14% of cash on hand…the rest was used to BTFD. Institutions, meanwhile, are at about 4.5% of cash which is their long term average. Institutions have been repositioning and selling to retail. Insider selling has also picked up and dumping to the retail crowd.

Markets are sitting at critical support levels…we have tested these prices and bounced from here in the recent past. See the chart below…

That light blue box in which we currently reside…that’s the key decision zone. It is right on top of the JPM collar hedge level of 6,475. This is their long PUT options position…the primary floor or protection level where the fund’s downside hedge begins to kick in. This strike often acts as a magnet or shock absorber into expiration, as dealer hedging can provide support near this level. We are talking about a $12B options position plus the associated market maker hedging.

Now this JPM collar hedge is set to expire on Mar 31st 2026. On this date, JPM will roll the position by closing these contracts and establishing a new three-month collar for the Jun 2026 expiration. The levels they pick for June are anyone’s guess…

So are markets likely to go higher or or lower in April?

As per the OECD, the ME war will fuel a surge in US inflation to +4.2% this year, the highest in the G7.

Additionally, as per the BEA, the US economy grew only +0.7% in Q4 2025…this was initially estimated by the Atlanta Fed at +5.4%. It represents a sharp deceleration from the +4.4% growth in Q3 2025.

Q1 2026 GDP growth was initially estimated at +1.2%…before the ME war started. New estimates will come our shortly…all likely lower.

Lower growth + higher inflation = Stagflation

This is not going to be fun…

Meanwhile, we had very weak US treasury auctions this week and last week. This resulted in US bonds dropping in prices and interest rates rising. The 10-year interest rate is now more than 4.4%…as it creeps higher towards the “deadly” 5% rate…markets will catch a cough…then a cold and finally pneumonia. For the record, last year, the Trump administration got scared and tacoed when rates went above 4.6%.

Even if rates drop…we have more than $10T of expiring US bonds to be rolled over in the next 12 months. Without these bond auctions, we will not have money to run the government, fund the military or make social security payments. There is no way to avoid these bond auctions. Sure, the Feds could restart QE…but don’t forget the inflation issue mentioned above…that will be like playing with economic fire.

On the Fed front, we can forget about rate cuts. In fact, the probability of a rate hike at the next meeting is now > 50%! Remember what happened in late 2021 and all of 2022 as the FOMC raised rates to tackle inflation? Yup…markets went down…stocks took a bath for many months…investor portfolios and 401ks shrunk.

If the current market recalibration persists, we may experience a repeat of 2022, where share prices drop solely due to shrinking valuation multiples (PE ratios) even as corporate profits stay on an upward trajectory. The SP500 has lost -5% YTD, yet PE ratios have dropped by about -20%…this would have been lower if corporate earnings were not estimated to expand by double-digit rates.

So if the AI buildout slows…if consumer spending tapers…if energy prices stay elevated…if inflation rises…if the Feds raise rates…if global liquidity shrinks…any and all of these will put pressure on earnings and will take markets lower…MUCH lower than today.

So given these current realities and forward risks, what should an investor do?

2026 has been the worst start to the year for US stocks…since 1995…more than 30 years ago!

Over the past two weeks or so, about 125 SP500 stocks have experienced a decline of more than -7% in a single day. The average drawdown is more than -30%. These are some of the worst technical conditions since the dotcom bubble burst.

Meanwhile, the SP500 is flat for the year…as is our S.W.A.T. portfolio…

While the SP500 is pinned in a small range, individual stocks are bouncing around the market pinball machine…these are not healthy signs…stuff is getting more and more shaky and uncertain beneath the surface.

When this happened in the past, the SP500 has fallen more than 80% of the time within 2 months. The average 12-month drawdown was -17%.

0DTE options trading, something I have written about several times in the past, is now more than 70% of total SP500 options trading volume. Stocks are moving up and down…faster and more frequently because of these short term day traders.

This is the tail wagging the dog and the tail is getting longer and stronger…

On the macro front, we got troubling news from the jobs market. 2025 jobs numbers were revised lower by over 1M jobs. This was the largest annual downward revision in at least 20 years. The labor market in 2025 was much weaker than we thought. This significant correction is quite the negative surprise because the inaccurate data was used last year by policymakers, like the Federal Reserve, to make decisions on interest rates and other monetary decisions.

As per CNBC, today, 1 in 4 unemployed people, or 1.8M Americans, have been job searching for more than 6 months.

This remains a K-shaped economy and the K is getting deeper…steeper…riskier…

These top 20% of the K are responsible for over 50% of consumer spending…which is keeping the US economy afloat. This cohort owns more than 70% of all US wealth…which in turn is closely tied to the stock market.

If the stock market has a correction…a lot of shit will start hitting the fan.

No surprise that we are now seeing delinquencies rising across all debt types, led by credit cards and student loans.

The CPI inflation report came in lower than expectations and markets rejoiced for a while. I don’t know about you…but when I look at my family budget…everything is more expensive than it was before…food, electricity, transport, restaurants, clothes, homes…

US homes are now the most expensive in history!

It does not feel like inflation has been beaten. More like we see a lower yoy % number and are calling it “Mission Accomplished” because we want the US Feds to cut interest rates so that our stocks go up.

Now, based on these signals and recent market action, how are we positioned and investing?

These gyrations tell us how fragile this market is as speculation is rampant. Stock prices are being whacked around like a badminton shuttlecock…by day trading and 0DTE options.

Today, an estimated 50% of daily market transaction volume is driven by these short term trades that get opened and closed in a matter of seconds, minutes, hours, days.

About 60% of this short term trading is computerized algo driven high frequency trading (HFT)…seconds to get in and out of the position.

About 55% of all daily options trading volume is 0DTE trading…these positions typically last for less than 8 hours at a time.

Wham, bam…thank you market gods.

Very sentiment driven…mechanical trading…where any nascent euphoria can fade away quickly at the first sign of trouble.

As this financial gaming is playing out at the forefront, in the back of the “store”, market maker (MM) hedging is also constantly shifting.

I have explained this dynamic a few times on this substack:

If you buy a bullish CALL option, the MM is on the other side of the trade selling you that CALL option. MMs make money on the transaction fees and not on the bull or bear thesis of your trade. So they delta-hedge their “sold CALL” to stay neutral to the price of the underlying stock or index. In this case, they will buy equivalent no. of shares in the stock. Now as the stock price shifts and the value of the CALL shifts, the MMs are constantly adjusting their hedges to stay neutral. Stock price rises, they buy more shares, stock price drops, they sell enough shares to stay hedged and delta-neutral. And the dance continues…every minute, every hour, every day.

Under bullish market conditions, MM hedging helps to keep the market propped up. Under bearish conditions, the reverse is true, meaning price drops get further accentuated as MM’s sell more shares.

Now I am oversimplifying how all this works to enhance your understanding…the point being that today’s market is not driven by fundamentals alone.

Today’s market is driven by sentiment, speculation, short term trading and hedging…and the market mood changes every day all manipulated by narratives…

• What news broke overnight?

• How did Asian and European markets perform?

• How is positioning at 7am…6am…5am…4am?

Many day traders are early risers, scanning their screens for any edge they can get before the competition sees it.

0DTE trades and related hedging all expire at market close and the game starts afresh the next day.

This daily “reset” phenomenon is bound to get even worse as brokerages push for 24x5 or even 24x7 stock trading. This week, the Mag7 stocks started trading options that expire on Mon and Wed each week…this in addition to their weekly Fri, monthly and quarterly expirations.

The market is now a colosseum with gladiators putting on a show every day for a few hours.

Today’s champion could be tomorrow’s chowder.

Narratives driving trades which drive hedging which drive price movements…

Market winds wagging the tail which in turn wags the dog…

…and retail investors get caught up in the black hole not knowing what hit them.

In the broader, global macro arena too, the tail is wagging the dog…

December retail sales were flat and totally missed expectations. Holiday sales started out strong but quickly petered out. Q4 GDP estimates are being cut and the labor market is cooling…with many more layoffs and tepid hiring. Don’t be fooled by today’s large new jobs number for Jan…instead make sure to read how 2025 job growth was significantly weaker than previously reported, with the total jobs added revised down from 584,000 to just 181,000.

Meanwhile, consumer delinquencies jumped higher. Delinquencies on all loan categories from mortgages to credit cards rose to 5% of all outstanding US household debt in Q4. This is the highest since 2017 and driven by more defaults among low-income and young borrowers. Another clear sign of the K-shaped economy that is not aligned with market ATHs. Consumers who should have a debt to income ratio of 30% are running at 60% and higher. 19% of buy-now-pay-later users are not able to make their installment payments.

And we are now in tax season in the US. The US’s tax receipts are highly correlated with market performance. When markets have risen the previous year, tax payments to the US treasury rise and vice versa. So this April, the US treasury should be flush with cash…except for the fact that the recently passed OBBB will be handing out larger tax refunds than usual and perhaps even stimulus checks. But then the weak labor market that has been slowly bleeding for months now will cause tax payments to decline.

For most of the previous century, the dog used to wag the tail. The US economy could be used to measure how the stock market might perform in the future. However, today’s stock market is about 200% the US GDP and the tail wags the dog. How the market performs has an outsized wealth effect on consumers which in turn affects how and when they spend their money in this consumer-driven economy. Today, 90% of stocks are held by the top 10% of society and that same top tier of the population represent more than 50% of all consumer spending. If the stock market is rising, these upper-K consumers spend more and vice versa.

How markets perform also impacts a company’s ability to secure new loans…funding to invest in R&D and future growth. Sicker markets restrict their ability to hire more labor, to enter new markets to sell their products and services, to IPO if they are privately held or to secure attractive borrowing terms when they take on new debt.

In all this chaos, confusion and uncertainty, one could say that the US$ is the most important currency in the world. The US economy is the largest driver of consumption and global trade. The US treasury and the US Feds are the world’s financial leaders and have more say in how things play out.

One would be right to say these things however we continue to see cracks develop in the base of these “thrones”. For example…

• China has directed their banks to limit purchases of US govt. bonds. China used to own about $1.3T of US debt in 2013. Today it holds less than half that and dropping…a deliberate reduction plan to diversify their reserves. Guess what they are buying instead? Gold!

• Crypto stablecoins are among the largest private buyers of US bonds, currently totally about $200B. But even they are now buying more Gold.

So based on these signals and recent market action, how are we positioned and investing?

Under crazy, chaotic, volatile market conditions, long term investors like me look for opportunities to buy our favorite stocks, especially when the investment thesis is not broken and the baby is being thrown out with the bath water.

However, the challenge is often about when to buy…about whether we are buying too early if the stock has lower to go…or if we are overstaying our welcome at the party.

We don’t try to exactly time the bottom. That is impossible to do. However, we can use informative technical signals on our stock charts to help us reduce the risk of over-paying for stocks that we love.

Over the weekend, I was pine-scripting and testing new technical indicators on my stock charts and they have proven to be very informative and actionable this week. Here is an example of what I mean…

My charts now show clearer upside resistance and downside support levels. They indicate whether institutions have been buying or selling. They display oversold signals when a bounce is due and overbought signals when a pull back is imminent. My stock charts are not perfect, however they serve as a guide as we continue to navigate these chaotic market waters.

We made many changes to our SWAT portfolio this week, including initiating a new position and buying more of our favorite positions. We took some gains off the table and deployed a lot of cash. It feels good to have cash ready to invest when markets drop.

Latest market signals

In Jan, as the SP500 pushed to record highs, we continued to see warning signs under the surface. Risky bets and margin debt had increased to a fever pitch as speculative trading was driving moves in stocks, indexes, commodities and cryptos. They all pointed to a fragile house of cards that was ready to topple down. Very short term 0DTE options trading is one of the main culprits in this environment. Unlike longer term traders and investors, ODTErs create sudden spikes in market volatility at the index level which color market sentiment in individual stocks…things can snowball rapidly in either direction - positive or negative.

This week, the snowball started rolling downhill and kept growing with every turn. The SP500 triggered a 2nd Hindenburg Omen (HO) in one week! HOs point to underlying market weakness when more stocks hit 52-week highs and 52-week lows at the same time. Markets tend to perform very poorly after an HO is triggered. Over the past 30 such HO signals, the SP500 lost value 63% of the time.

Software stocks got particularly hit hard. Folks were just rushing for the exit doors and asking questions later. Trading desks reported 9 of 10 orders coming in as SELL orders. Look at the chart of any software stock today and it is likely very oversold with an RSI in the teens. Their forward PEs have contracted by more than -30% from 33x to lower than 22x…we are close to the COVID and 2022 lows. Interestingly when this happened in the past, software stocks have rallied about +21% over the following 3 months. So perhaps we are close to bottoming in this sector?

On the macro front, in Jan, layoffs rose significantly while hiring was about 50% lower. US companies announced over 108k layoffs, which is about 2x as compared to a year ago. In fact, this is the highest since Jan 2009.

In Nov last year, we laid out our roadmap for 2026, in which we warned about this Q1 market volatility. We have been preparing for it for months by taking profits at ATHs and building up a cash kitty to deploy surgically into specific stocks that we think will be winners over the next 12-24 months.

In our Salty trading site, we issued a clear and actionable Market BUY/SELL/HOLD signal that guides our trading actions and risk tolerance.

We ignore fintwit narratives and most geopolitical noise. We look past wag-the-dog bullshit, taco tantrums and congressional shenanigans.

We focus on the disciplined work of analyzing earnings reports, tracking key leading macro indicators and monitoring technical signals for markets, stocks and crypto. We study economic growth, inflation trends, monetary policy actions, enacted fiscal policy, liquidity changes, and institutional positioning.

And regarding the US Feds…we read this on X recently…it serves as a strong reality check for investors.

“Let’s skip the complex math, the sacred economic texts, and the chanting about repo facilities. This is basic arithmetic. It doesn’t care who the Fed Chair is.

The U.S. economy is roughly a $30 trillion machine carrying about $38 trillion in debt. That debt grows by close to $2 trillion every year, automatically. Interest payments are now approaching $1 trillion annually and compounding at 15–20 percent a year. That’s impressive growth—just not the kind anyone should be celebrating.

At this point, asking what Kevin Warsh will do is like asking which button the elevator will press after the cables have snapped.

The math problem is painfully simple. The U.S. government spends about $7 trillion a year and collects roughly $5 trillion in taxes. This isn’t politics; it’s subtraction. The idea of “paying down the debt” belongs in the same museum as the gold standard and balanced budgets.

To merely stop the debt-to-GDP ratio from getting worse, the United States would need around 8 percent nominal GDP growth every year. For an economy of this size and complexity, that implies something like 5 percent inflation and 2 to 3 percent real growth—and that’s on a good day. To actually reduce the debt burden, the numbers get uglier. You need double-digit nominal growth, which means inflation north of 7 percent alongside positive real growth. At that point, the Fed’s 2 percent inflation target stops being a policy goal and becomes an aspiration.”

As I have written many times before, 2026 is not the year to F.A.F.O.

So given the market signals discussed above, how and where should we invest?

Should we buy-the-dip BTD like we did for all of 2025?

Or should we step back and take gains? Hedge our portfolios?

So here is where our investing portfolio currently stands…

2025 was an interesting year for investing…to say the least. Twists and turns throughout, mostly predicated on government actions, fiscal policies, and tweets. Meanwhile, the AI boom and crypto enthusiasm took markets higher for most of the year, before kinda whimpering down into the end last week.

In 2025, the Beachman S.W.A.T. portfolio returned +38%.

Over the past six years, Beachman’s investing portfolio has returned an average of +141% per year at a compounded annual growth rate of +43%.

Once again, we trounced all the indexes as they performed as follows:

• SP500 +16%

• Dow Jones +13%

• Nasdaq +20%

The Beachman SWAT portfolio hit a high YTD return of +47% on Oct 8th 2025. However, the market pullbacks in Nov and Dec took a slight toll as we headed to the end of the year.

Alongside, in the Summer, we launched our sister trading portfolio, Beachman’s Salty Trades, where 64% of our trades were profitable. Over the past 7 months, we published on 7 multi-bagger stock picks, two of which were upgraded to our longer term investing portfolio.

Here are some of the key take-aways for the year:

• Our Beachman’s scoring algorithm continues to mature in its ability to pick superior opportunities. These quarterly scorecards help me stay invested in stocks that are likely to provide market-leading returns for my portfolio.

• In 2025, we further improved our technical analysis on stock charts with the goal to make them more actionable. We introduced cleaner, backtested BUY/SELL signals along with new support and resistance levels. Using these more dependable signals, we were able to buy-the-dip confidently and sell-the-rip almost perfectly in several cases.

• Since we started keeping records, we have logged 20 multi-baggers, including 16 stocks and ETFs and 4 cryptos.

• Our best new stock pick for the year is our only AI cloud position, which returned +44% since we first bought it earlier this year.

• Our two best performing positions, both became multi-baggers in 2025, returning +65% and +61% respectively. One is an AI stock and the other is an alternative ETF.

• My worst stock pick in 2025 was TTD which we exited in Nov for a -26% loss. Incidentally, TTD was the worst performer in the SP500.

• My biggest 2025 learnings involved the use of options to hedge my portfolio during the summer of 2025.

After the euphoric madness of 2020 and 2021, followed by the punch-down in 2022, we had 3 amazing consecutive years of investing from 2023 through 2025 giving us the annualized return of +141% and a +43% CAGR….nothing to sneeze at. We are proud of our success over these past 6 years.

We plan to be very surgical about where and when we deploy our capital or scale it back into cash. There is no reason why we cannot beat the indexes again, with smart, well-planned and proficiently-executed portfolio management.

Here is how we can do it:

• We invest in market-leading stocks and ETFs with a proven record…and supported by a strong secular catalyst.

• We keep it simple and don’t overthink or over analyze things.

• We stick to our process, our fundamental analysis, our tracking of leading macro indicators.

• We seek out good sources of information…staying away from pump-and-dump characters who are talking their book.

• We remind ourselves that no one can predict what markets will do.

• If you hear of a good investing or trade idea, it is probably already too late.

• We pay close attention to earnings reports while checking if the investment thesis is still alive and strong.

• We monitor stock valuations on the basis of market cap, debt, cash, revenues, margins and forward growth estimates.

• We use GAAP numbers, not management defined non-standard, adjusted metrics or rule of 40 or rule of 80 or whatever.

• We do not get fooled by rosy free cash flow numbers when SBC and shareholder dilution is rampant behind the curtain.

• We use technical signals to find better price points at which to buy, trim or sell.

Successfully managing a portfolio is a lot like growing bonsai. You have to give it the necessary attention - water, air, light, pruning, tweaking, shaping, support. We have used these “bonsai techniques” in the Beachman community for six years running and our results speak for themselves.

Not surprising that tech stocks were the primary driver of this growth, with over +20% earnings growth and +13% revenue growth. Semiconductor stocks came in at +23% yoy revenues, while AI and cloud stocks racked up +18% yoy sales growth. 85% of tech companies beat revenue estimates…another record.

Analysts expect the positive momentum to continue into 2026, with about +14% overall SP500 earnings growth. Tech is estimated to deliver +17% earnings and +14% revenue growth next year. In spite of all the negative narrative about an “AI bubble”, AI investments and capex spend is estimated to represent about half of the US’s GDP growth this year and next.

Now, one can buy every AI stock that rose after their Q3 earnings report. One can just buy all the AI semiconductor stocks - NVDA, AMD, AVGO, MRVL, QCOM, MU, ALAB, CRDO, LITE, COHR, ANET, TSM, ASML, LRCX, SMCI, INTC, DELL, HPE, CLS, CDS, ARM…etc…etc…

But, we don’t invest like that. We don’t want to spray our capital in so many directions that we end up merely mirroring or lagging the SP500 and its returns.

We prefer to invest

…in the best stocks

…in the strongest themes and sectors

…and at the right time.

This enables our portfolio to continue beating the market by 2x, 3x or even 4x over the next 12-18 months.

Today, the SP500 sits at a more than a 26 PE. If you factor in inflation and investment expenses, our returns will likely trend towards the negative or sub-zero by 2035.

Guess what Howard Marks did recently?

In Oct this year, he sold the remainder of his stake in the investment firm that he co-founded…Oaktree Capital Management. He likely sold at the highs and walked away to spend more time at the beach.

Here in the Beachman community, we invest to sleep well and tight S.W.A.T. We invest in market-leading stocks and ETFs with a proven record, while taking a long-term horizon and a lower risk approach.

We like to buy at the lows and sell at the highs. We like to deploy loads of cash when stocks get oversold and we get cautious when risks increase. We closely track market signals to better understand when to do what. We look ahead 12-18 months at a time and white-board our forward action plan to ensure no surprises, no knee-jerk reactions…just calm, thought out actions at the right time.

So far, the Q3 earnings season has been one of the best in recent times. Earnings have grown by about 15% as compared to initial estimates of only 7%. In my book, that is a blow out, although most of this profit expansion is from the mega caps who then proceeded to provide more bullish forward guidance.

So this market now provides us a narrow path forward - on one side is the possibility of a year end rally and on the other side is a probable, stagnant quarter that could turn hostile towards certain sectors.

Weeks ago, we identified this Oct-Nov window of market weakness and we kept our paid subscribers informed. Mapping out the next 4-5 quarters

As we prepare our portfolios for 2026, we first laid out our 8-step SWAT Sleep-Well-And-Tight investing process. We have been successfully employing this approach for several years now with market-leading returns which are posted here.

It is also important to plan for both right tail opportunities and left tail risks. Therefore, we discussed the positive secular, macro, fiscal and monetary catalysts that could propel markets higher next year and the major risks that could negatively impact markets in 2026.

Given this broader macro landscape, in the most recent post in this series, we listed the strongest investing themes and sectors that we like for 2026. ALL our cash will be allocated to them. Of course AI is on that shortlist, however we identified specific AI sub-sectors that will dominate next year along with a few other themes that almost no one is talking about while they chase the latest fin-twit fad.

Today, let’s discuss what is likely to happen in each of the next 4-5 quarters and how we plan to position our portfolio to maximize our returns in each 3-month time period.

Obviously, we are not fortune-tellers nor do we have the time-traveling skills of Marty McFly and Dr Emmett Brown from “Back To The Future”. However, we read the macro tea leaves and seasonal charts that give us clues to how the US economy is likely to perform going forward. We can then apply these learnings to develop a quarter-by-quarter action plan that becomes plenty specific as additional data comes in and more time goes by. We have been doing this for years and our portfolio returns are better for it.

Specifically, I was watching three things:

1. If AI capex spend is forecasted higher in 2026, then are semiconductor stocks and neocloud stocks rallying?

2. Are all those OpenAI deals, incoming and outgoing contracts that are being thrown around (or promised) having a positive impact on the stock prices of their customers and partners?

3. Which mega cap is clearly demonstating multi-vector AI momentum and which are not?

Well, it seems that after markets digested the updated earnings reports, semi stocks, neoclouds and OpenAI partners and customers did not rally as expected. Most of them stayed muted into the close on Fri. Additionally, some mega caps are proving to be stronger AI winners than the rest…the men are separating themselves from the boys. Markets might be closer to calling B.S. in all those grand promises of new AI revenues and profits.

We are more than 50% invested in various AI stocks, but we don’t spray our money into all of them blindly. We are very choosy based on bottoms up fundamental research and constant technical analysis. This approach has helped us deliver a market beating CAGR of +46% over the past 6 years since we started writing about our investing portfolio. As of the end of Oct 2025, we are up +47% YTD.

And so we come to our decision to add a new stock to our Sleep-Well-At-Night (SWAT) long term investing portfolio this week…

The proliferation of AI data centers is driving a massive and accelerating global power demand, creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity for onsite power solutions. In the US, AI infrastructure demands are expected to consume 8-12% of the nation’s electricity by 2030, a major increase from the current 3% consumption. This exponential growth is creating a significant 35 GW power gap in the US market, which translates to a potential $50B gap for onsite power providers. Existing central power plants, transmission, and distribution systems cannot keep up with all this demand.

And this is a global issue and worldwide race to rapidly build and power AI data centers to drive local economies forward. This market dynamic is so critical that achieving success in the AI race is quickly becoming a nation-state priority and driving government policy to remove barriers as soon as possible.

Power solutions designed to meet this demand gap are critically necessary over the next few years because the speed of AI infrastructure build-out far outstrips the timeline for traditional energy fixes. Grid upgrades or the installation of new transmission lines typically require five to ten years to complete, a waiting period that is untenable for hyperscalers.

As a tech investor who is heavily allocated to the AI theme, it is imperative that I carefully consider how I can put some capital to work in this growing, secular economic catalyst and I am on the hunt for the best such opportunities for my SWAT portfolio. After months of research, I jumped into a stock that I believe has the best opportunity to profit from this AI power supply-demand constraint, while building out its chops to support broader industrial, transportation and retail energy needs when the AI tailwind starts fading away.
